BCU 3-star Workshop, with Navigation
A comprehensive 3-day course focusing on BCU 3-star skills plus navigation
$325 3-day

Sample itinerary:
Day 1 Isolate and play with the mechanics of paddling during a body-boat-blade discovery workshop designed to reveal the how & why behind the techniques expected at 3-star level and to leave you with more instinctive mastery of them. Evening review of BCU system, and personal goals..

Day 2 Games & drills to review edging and blade angle. Refine 3-star skills. Individual coaching. Evening Navigation session and planning final day's journey.

Day 3 A navigated trip down the WA bank to the Astoria Bridge with current, standing waves, eddies, and afternoon wind. Paddling in such conditions is a good check of how instinctive those 3-star skills are, and why they are necessary in 4-star environments. And of course it's lots of fun! Debrief and action plan before leaving.

Two-Day Columbia River Campout
Give yourself to the rhythm of the river for a couple days! We'll launch from Willow Grove just west of Longview and paddle past the rocky coastline to camp on an island, then proceed the next day to a take out at Ginni's Slow Boat Farm on Puget Island where the vehicles await. Trip features spectacularly large ships, quiet marshy islands, steep rocky cliffs, birds, stately cottonwoods, instruction if desired, and the whimsey of following where the river takes us.

Dinner, kayak, and kayaking gear are provided. Camping gear, breakfast & lunches are BYO. $225. Shuttle assistance may be necessary.

Solstice Overnight
Celebrate the longest night of the year on the river. Meet at Slow Boat Farm on Puget Island for a pizza and kayak packing party featuring locally made Pizza and a fresh salad from our garden. Then we'll paddle our lightly laden kayaks among the waterways of Puget Island, and off to a sandy campspot in the evening light. Sleep out, howl at the stars, make some music, burn some bonfire, and generally celebrate life and nature and friends! $115 includes Pizza & salad, camp breakfast with local eggs, kayak, and kayaking gear. Bring your own camping gear. June 21, 7pm to June 22, 10am, 2007, launching from and returning to Slow Boat Farm.
